American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
About This Class
American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
The same lifesaving competencies, certified through the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) course prepares healthcare professionals and trained responders to recognize a cardiac or respiratory emergency, deliver high-quality CPR, use an AED, provide ventilations with a bag-mask device, and work as part of a resuscitation team. Like every credible BLS program, it is built on the international resuscitation science published through ILCOR — so the compressions, the ratios and the defibrillation you will practice are the same. What differs is the certifying organization, the course materials and the wording of the certificate your employer receives.
Who this course is for
- Nurses, physicians and advanced practice providers
- EMTs, paramedics and emergency responders
- Medical and dental assistants
- Respiratory, physical and occupational therapists
- Students in a healthcare degree program
- Anyone whose employer specifically asks for a Red Cross BLS credential
Should you take this or the AHA course?
For most people the answer is simple: take whichever one your employer names. Some hospitals, agencies and schools specify American Heart Association; others accept or prefer American Red Cross. Both are nationally recognized, both certify for two years, and both teach the same underlying science. If your employer has not specified, ask them before you book — it is a two-minute conversation that avoids paying for the wrong card.
If you are not sure, phone us and we will help you work it out. We would rather point you at the right class than sell you the wrong one.
What you will be able to do
